LAURA AND JULIA MEET AT EMERSON COLLEGE and start dating their senior year. meanwhile, rachel is also at emerson… dating a man.
2012

during many gatherings at THE HOUSE OF charlie silverman (A MUTUAL FRIEND OF OUR THROUPLE and their future officiant), laura and julia mingle with Charlie’s roommate, Rachel Fox, fellow nice person and noted hottie. But nothing happens… at least on a conscious level, but subconsciously and cosmically, a spark is lit.
2016
Sonoma, CA
laura and julia get married in a beautiful ceremony held at julia’s parents’ home.
elsewhere, Rachel is still dating a man.
2022

the three of them START HANGING OUT MORE REGULARLY AND revisit that spark FROM BEFORE, this time on a conscious level. They have fun together. They get to know each other better. And then the unexpected happens… they fall in love. It’s a love that’s deep and undeniable, but also new and scary. None of them have ever been in a non-monogamous relationship, so they have a lot to figure out, but they are excited to do it together.

IN THE MIDST OF NAVIGATING THIS RATHER COMPLICATED new RELATIONSHIP, Julia gets pregnant. (wait, what?) Yeah, Julia gets pregnant with twins (ARE YOU JOKing?) four months into dating. (hahaha)
yeah. So now… there are a lot of questions to answer. Will Rachel raise these kids with Julia and Laura? Do the three of them move in together immediately? Not to mention, do they want to be together FOREVER after only dating for a few months?
this leads to a lot of hard conversations. It was not what any of them had planned, and it certainly wasn’t the simplest process. but ultimately, they say yes to it all. Because the thing they never questioned is the love between them.
2024

a year into motherhood, Laura and julia take rachel to an escape room to pop the big question. They manage to escape by the skin of their teeth (aka the staff felt bad and helped them) and rachel finds the ring in the final puzzle. She says yes! They all cry!
A few weeks later, Rachel asks Julia and Laura to marry her, by reading a beautiful movie script she had written (get it? because laura and julia are writers?) LAura and Julia say yes! (thank goodness because if they didn’t, that would be awkward.) And so, the throuple is betrothed.
